Fat Tire Favorites South Florida Off-Road Bicycling
Reviews and Comments
From Oleta River SRA MTB News, by Bill Goldstick:
"Guide Book to South Florida's Legal Trails"
Guide to South Florida Off-Road Bicycling has just hit the shops. Rob
has collected information on more than twenty, that's right folks, twenty,
legal ride locations. This one of a kind guide book features location
maps, trail maps, photos, wildlife descriptions and local mountain biking
history of South Florida. For the gonzo team racer or the bicycle dad
with his kids on the weekend, this is a guide book you have to buy and
read.
Rob has compiled information on six local parks where legal singletrack
trails exist. There are also sections on Everglades National Park, Big
Cypress National Preserve, the Tri-county greenways system, and a few
of the many great levee rides on South Florida Water Management Properties.
As a totally committed advocate of mountain biking in Florida, Rob is
also a very creative writer. The passion he has for certain areas and
certain rides comes through in his writing. While this guide book is a
first time effort for Rob, and was self-published on an extremely limited
budget, I would still rate it among the best guide books I have read.
Can't find the book at your local bike shop? Call or email Rob directly.
From Palm Beach Post review
by Willie Howard:
"Author delves into the short history of mountain biking"
Off-road bike enthusiast Rob DeGraaf has published a guide to the riding
trails of South Florida.
Guide to South Florida Off-Road Bicycling features a brief history of
mountain biking in the region, dating to the days when "mountain
bikes" were simply modified beach cruisers.
Maps of the book's featured riding trails -- including Dyer Park and
Cholee Park in WPB -- help users understand the terrain before they ride.
DeGraaf, a Ft. Lauderdale native, also ranks the difficulty of trails
based on his experience and includes sections on trail-use ethics and
riding rules from the International Mountain Bike Association.
The book sells for $12, incl. tax and shipping, and is available at most
bike shops or by contacting Rob directly.

"Bought your book a few months ago and my rear end hasn't been
the same since.
THANK YOU. . . . You've been an inspiration."
Southwest Florida rider, Scott
Scheffer writes:
"Thanks for putting together such a great book. It has taken me
into places I otherwise would never have found. I can't tell you how many
people I've run into that have your book and love it. I recently ran into
three guys from Miami that were on a quest for adventure. They were inspired
solely by your book."
One visiting mountain biker
wrote:
"Rob, I received the book about a week ago. I really like it. Your
book puts the great trails together with great maps and information. It
will be a pleasure to ride there (in S. Fla.) this October."
Jae Manzella, Dade County Bicycle/ Ped. Officer,
writes:
"Rob, I applaud your efforts for encouraging more non-motorized
recreational activities in our area, no matter how much fun you had doing
it."
